Math Mentor Position

We’re looking for a skilled, caring, and patient math teacher who is interested in helping students prepare for the math section of SAT/ACT and improve academically in math and physics related school subjects. Due to the fact that most mentors on our team focus their professional development on college counseling and essay writing, we seek a mentor who can focus specifically on teaching math.

Hours and Compensation

Seeing as classes fluctuate over the course of the semester, mentors are not guaranteed a certain number of classes. It is difficult for us to predict exactly how many students will reach out to us for support specifically with math. That being said, we estimate that our math mentor would teach approximately 16- 24 hours of class per month from August through May.

This is an ideal position for someone who has another job and is looking for the opportunity to work with students one-on-one in the afternoons and/or weekends during the academic school year. Most mentors teach all their classes on zoom in the afternoons from Monday to Thursday. Mentors may also choose to work on the weekend or during academic breaks, but this is not required.

Mentors are paid $700 MXN per hour for test prep classes (SAT/ACT), and $600 MXN per hour for academic support classes.

Twice a month, our math mentors participate in paid professional development in-person team meetings (in the Condesa area). Meetings are two hours long and mentors receive $500 MXN for attending. In these meetings, mentors support one another with teaching strategies and resources. Mosaico offers and prioritizes on-going SAT/ACT training for new mentors.

Additionally, mentors will have the opportunity to participate in the development of our social justice workshops and nonprofit projects, if interested.
